Principal's Message

Exciting things are happening at Bronx Aerospace High School!

Bronx Aerospace High School is a career technical education school with a concentration in New York State approved Pre Engineering program. Our students are provided career awareness and preparation opportunities through their academic and technical knowledge and work-related skills necessary to succeed in postsecondary education, training, and employment.

Students can receive the CTE-endorsed diploma by the time they graduate high school. To obtain the CTE-endorsed diploma, students must take and pass the course sequence, which includes Introduction to Engineering, Principles of Engineering, AP Computer Science Principles, and Career and Financial Management. In addition, they must pass the National Technical Assessment (NOCTI) exam that includes a school-based capstone project and a 54-hour complete work-based learning experience.

The work-based learning includes a paid CTE internship in Engineering, Technology, Software Engineering, drones and robotics, and workplace challenge learning with a stipend of up to $1,200 per student. 

The school utilizes the Project Lead the Way (PLTW)  curriculum to bring real-world experiences to the pre-engineering program by engaging students in a hands-on classroom environment that empowers them to develop in-demand knowledge and skills they need to succeed. This past year we have worked extensively with our CTE team to bring back our Aerospace engineering curriculum, which has taken off this fall with the support of Republic Airlines and the Civil Air Patrol. Students will now also have the opportunity to acquire their private pilot certification by the time they graduate. 

We are excited about the multiple pathways and partnerships we have created for our learning community, primarily for our Black and Brown students as they are underrepresented in these industries due to the lack of resources and opportunities. 

These opportunities will allow our students to reach greater heights, ultimately giving them real-world college and career options by the time they graduate high school.
